Mid-Race Safety Cut-off

  • Cyclists who have not reached the water point located on Philadephia Road R304 (Oortmanspost farm) by 11:30 will be stopped and brought back to the event venue by the sweeping team.

King of the Mountain

  • Crest of Vissershok Road (M48), 800m from Meerendal wine estate turn-off

Route Description – 103km Long Route

  • Cyclists leave the Durbanville Racecourse to follow the 99er cycling route over Tiekiedraai (Tygerberg Valley Road M13), turning right onto Contermanskloof Road and right again at the Vissershok & Malanshoogte 4-way intersection to face the challenging Vissershok climb, culminating with the King of the Mountain at the crest of Vissershok.
  • From here the route continues on Vissershok, through Durbanville to exit on Wellington / Klipheuwel Road (R302).
  • Shortly after Okavango intersection, turn right onto the Lichtenburg Road (R312), pass Fisantekraal and cross the R312/R304 “fruit sellers” 4-way stop. The R312 climbs to the R44 where cyclists turn left towards Wellington.
  • Take a left turn at Windmeul Winery onto the Vryguns (Voor-Paardeberg) Road. This scenic route through the local farming community passes the Boland Agricultural School as well as Perdeberg Winery.
  • Cyclists then turn left onto the Slent Road and cross straight over the Malmesbury - Stellenbosch Road, making a right turn onto Philadelphia Road (R304) after passing the Klipheuwel silos.
  • Enjoy the rolling hills of Philadelphia road before turning left onto Adderley Road (M58) to return to Durbanville.
  • Cyclists will route through D’Urbanvale (Mosselbank River Avenue), Vissershok and up Odendaal Street for the last 400m climb to the finish area before Pienaar Street, followed by a 2.5 km neutral zone back to the Racecourse venue.

Route Description – 51km Short Route

  • Cyclists leave Durbanville Racecourse to join up with the 103km route at the Vissershok circle.
  • At the R312/R304 “fruit sellers” 4-way stop, the 51km cyclists turn left onto the R304 and left once again before the Klipheuwel silos to join up with the 103km route.
  • Cyclist follow the latter part of the 103km route from here all the way to the finish on Odendaal Street.

Road Closures

  • Road closure has been applied for and is applicable to the portion of Vissershok Road (M48) from the N7 to Meerendal Wine Estate turn off (lane uphill from the N7)

Road Surface Conditions

  • The City of Cape Town has been requested to repair pot holes on Vissershok Road (M48).
